I’m not going to start off with the typical “there are only 40 million African Americans in the United States….”, because as the old saying goes “there are lies, bigger lies, and statistics”.

God has graciously blessed my family, and I. I have been blessed to win major competitions, the biggest one being the ACT-SO (African American Cultural Technological, and Scientific Olympics) Engineering Category, where I was blessed to win Gold in 2015, and come back in 2016 to win Silver. I plan to attend either the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor, Purdue University – Lafayette, or University of Colorado – Boulder. Any one of these Universities could put me massively in debt. To say my family does not have deep pockets is an understatement, as is with most minority families in the United States, but my parents will be retiring to years after I graduate High School, and I need a source of money to sustain my attending any higher level of education. Hard work and pain result in success, from personal experience I know hard work might not result in in immediate success, it might not even result in success this year, but God’s grace it will come with most needed.
